ARNIS de MANO Presas style

This is the name father of Presas brother called his technique. Young
Ernesto Presas started to use this name for his own style too. He has got
reasons for that. Together with his younger brother he learnd from his
father starting at the age of 8 till the year 1972 when their father died,
and during this period he mastered all father's technique. Their older
brother Remy Presas learned from father as well, but e left home soon and
moved to Cebu island, where he started to learn BALINTAWAK from
Grandmaster Ansong Bacon, Attorney Villasin And Captain Timoteo Marangga
therein he enjoined his father techniques with other Arnis master, in
which gave way to Remy Presas teaching of MODERN ARNIS.

MODERN ARNIS

Presas brother Remy, Ernesto, Roberto and thier friend Federico Lazo
started to use the name Modern Arnis in 1970. On this year Remy and
Ernesto created and registered thier first organizations in Philippines.
Both Brother together with Federico Lazo decided to give this name to the
style they where developing, as thier techniques where based on Presas
family traditions.

and Modern Arnis Association of the Philippines where the first registered
organizations that used the word Arnis and Modern Arnis in their names.
Both brothers were successfully developing their martial arts in the world
under the same name Modern Arnis. Grandmaster Remy focused on the USA and
nearest countries, while Grandmaster Ernesto- on Asia, Australia, and
Europe. In 1973 Grandmaster offered to his older brother the name"
Modern Arnis Father" as a gesture of respect to the oldest of their
family. From this moment Grandmaster Remy is known all over the world
under this honor and deserved name. Modern Arnis name is fully associated
in people's minds with Grandmaster Remy students. After Grandmaster Remy
had passed away the authentic Modern Arnis from Grandmaster Remy found way
in America., where he did a lot for the development of his art,
Unfortunately many other masters use only the name of Modern Arnis, but in
reality they teach their own style, which has nothing in common with
Grandmaster Remy's style.

Grandmaster Ernesto together Modern Arnis continued to combine and modify
the techniques he learned from his father and grandfather. There were
created his own Pilipino Martial Arts system like Mano-Mano and Armas de
Mano. This time was not only the search for the new style, but also an
attempt to combine different techniques on the basis of united principles
and motion.
In 1980 Grandmaster Ernesto spread his style by teaching European
masters. In this period in Europe there were organized several seminar
attended by representatives of different European countries. 1985
Grandmaster Ernesto organized the 1st International Modern Arnis Summer
camp in Hundred Island , Pangasinan, Philippines.

KOMBATAN

In 1995 the basis and structure of the style was completed and Grandmaster
Ernesto choose the name KOMBATAN for the new style, which stand for
combined martial art of the way of combining techniques.
